Have you ever been in the car with a parent or adult friend and have to deal with them texting and driving? It’s deadly, it’s dangerous, and if kids cant text and drive it should be the same thing for adults. Many adults say it’s a habit, but I want to stop it. It is very serious and could end up taking someone’s life. I want to prevent that.
One of the many reasons why texting and driving is not okay is that when you set your eyes on that phone, your whole mind blanks out so you can only think about what your texting. For example, lets say I was driving and was getting ready to stop at a red light. Right when I’m about to stop I get a text. I look at my phone, and instantaneously forget I was going to stop. I run the light, and a car buffets me. It can be very fatal if your phone takes your mind off of what it should be focusing on. That’s why if you don’t have your phone with you all the time, it might prohibit accidents and show that you care about your life. If you text and drive it’s almost like you don’t care enough to keep yourself safe.
The next big problem with texting and driving is that almost all of American drivers do it. About 81% admitted to texting and driving. Studies also show that if you text while driving you are 23% more likely to get in an accident. To help with this problem, they are thinking about making an application for I phones and other phones that detects when the car moves. When the phone gets a sort of message of the movement it shuts down fully so that you cant text and drive. This is a very creative and unique idea because if people can’t use their phones, there will be less texting and driving which means fewer accidents.
Most importantly, when you text and drive you are putting your life at risk. But when you text and drive with someone else in the car, that’s putting your child’s life AND yours at risk. Some people say that they get more distracted when they are on the phone then when they are texting. 34% of teenage drivers talk on the phone while driving. That can be just as treacherous. If your texting, your distracted by what you are typing, but if your talking on the phone, your distracted by what the person on the other line is saying. If you are ever caught texting and driving it can be up to a 150$ fine. If you were to ever get in an accident and have your children in the car, you never know what could happen to them. Be safe and don’t get your children involved in your own situation. If you don’t text and drive I guarantee you a better life.
In conclusion, texting and driving should not be an option in your book and needs to stop unhesitatingly. If you follow these reasons you can succeed in following your dreams without having to worry about your life being in jeopardy. I hope that these reasons will help you to understand what texting and driving can do to your life. Stay safe in that drivers seat!:)
